Maddie looked around at the park for a bit in thought. She watched as her black and white Basset Hound puppy, Jitterbug walked around her sniffing the ground. She chuckled at the floppy ears dragging the ground while she sat on the edge of the fountain in the middle of the park. She figured while she was in the park she might as well bring Jitterbug out for a little walk.
She had put her black, red, blue, and purple hair in two french braids and had on a turquoise American Eagle polo shirt with a brown camisole under it and some of her black jeans that had tears and patches and a few paint stains on them. She had her purple bag that carried not only her stuff but that she could carry Jitterbug in if she needed to.

Mathis was very nervous. He hadn't been on a date in almost two years. He never really had the time. He was excited about it as well though. He really like Maddie, there was just something about her. Not only was he ready for this date he was awake. He had taken the day off from school and slept all day. His dad stayed home to keep and eye on Caity.
"Hey," He said jogging up to her when he spotted her sitting down. There was a dog close by. "Yours?" He asked.

She looked up from the puppy to Mathis smiling. "Hey." She said sweetly as she stood up brushing her butt off of any dirt. She looked down at Jitterbug and smiled when she propped her front legs up on Mathis's leg to try and reach his hand. "Yeah, her name's Jitterbug." She said sweetly as she looked back up at Mathis.

"Hey there girl," He said as he leaned down and pet the dog. He loved dogs. They had one before Caitlyn was born but the dog didn't seem to like her so they had to get ride of him. He wanted to get another dog though. Now that she was older a dog might be more accepting of her. "She going to join us?" Mathis asked smiling up at Maddie.

She watched them and smiled gently as Jitterbug sniffed his hand gently then accepted the attention gratefully. Her aunt had gotten Jitterbug as a gift in hopes that she would be a little less depressed. She had heard that having a dog after a traumatic experience like the wreck would help with getting over it quicker. "She can if you don't mind. I can leave her with my little cousin and aunt." She said gently looking at him. Her Aunt Mary and Jason were at the park playground at the moment.

"I don't mind if she comes." He smiled. "I was thinking about maybe just going for a long walk. She would probably have a lot of fun." He looked back at the dog and rubbed her head. "Wouldn't you girl." He was getting less and less nervous which was good. He had no reason to be nervous. "How does that sound?" He asked standing up and smiling at Maddie.

She looked at him and smiled gently. "Well, then I don't see why she can't tag along." She said sweetly. She watched him with the dog for a nother minute and giggled when she yipped softly as if answering his question. "So, are you going to show me around the city for the evening?" She asked sweetly looking at him.

"I sure am." He smiled, "You said you didn't know it to well so I thought that a tour would be in order." He didn't know the town all that well either but he knew it well enough to show her around for a bit. Plus walking was a better way of getting to know someone then a movie.

She smiled sweetly and nodded. "Sounds like fun." She said sweetly. She figured that walking was a better first date for a new relationship than a movie. You get to talk more when you do stuff like walk around for a while. She looked down at Jitterbug who was wrapping her leash around one of Maddie's legs. She undid the leash from around her leg then looked up at Mathis. "I'm ready when ever you are." She said sweetly as she stood back up.

"I am so ready," he smiled. He had been looking forward to getting to know her. She was the first person who didn't treat him differently because he was a teen father. As they walked he thought of questions to ask. Things that would help him get to know her. "So when did you start painting?" He asked her.

She smiled gently as they started to walk with Jitter bug about two feet infront of them. She looked at him and then forward thinking for a moment. "Well, I started sketching when I was about eleven, but painting.... painting came along when I turned thirteen." She said gently as they walke at a steady pace. "What about you? When did you start taking up photography?" She asked sweetly looking to him smiling gently.

"When my daughter was about 3 months, I bought a camera. I wanted to be able to have photos of every moment." He said. "The more I took the more I wanted to continue to take. Now it just seems like it has been my passion forever." He smiled at her. They were both into art but seperate kinds which was cool. "Do you prefer to sketch or paint?" He asked.

She smiled gently and thought again at the next question. She shrugged her shoulder gently. "I don't have a preference really. It's whatever I can use at the moment and what kind of mood I'm in really." She said gently looking to him then down at Jitterbug who was walking inbetween them.

"I can understand that." He smiled, "Kind of like with photos, sometimes I want black and white. Sometimes I want color." It all depended on the mood and what the photograph was of. "Oh by the way here." He said as he reached into his back pocket and pulled out a photo of her. It was one with her head on her knees and she was starring out the window. "This one is my favorite."

She looked at him and nodded gently. "Exactly." She said sweetly looking around at the people and the buildings. She looked to him with a curious expression and then looked down at the picture. She put her hand over her locket that her parents had given her in the way that most girls did when they were surprised with something they love."Oh, Mathis, it's awsome." She said gently taking it from him to look at it. "Thanks." She said sweetly looking back up to him.
