Mathis looked down at Jitterbug and picked her up. He lightly placed her on his lap and scratched behind her ears. "I think you dog likes me," He smiled, "Which is a good thing, cause when the dog likes the guy it usually means he's a keeper. Huh girl?" He asked looking down at Jitterbug. "I bet my daughter would just love you." He said as he handed her a fry, which she quickly took from him.

She watched the two smiling gently. She looked from Jitterbug, who was absolutely loving the attention, to Mathis. "That would explain why she never liked any of my other boyfriends." She said sweetly watching them. She giggled when the puppy snorted softly. "She loves kids." She said sweetly as she ate some fries. A large grin washed over her face as the puppy shook her head flopping around her long floppy ears.

Mathis hadn't dated anyone since before his daughter was born and was unsure of the single father rules. Was he allowed to introduce his daughter to her, or should he not get her involved into that part of his life until he is sure it is something that will last. She probably didn't want to meet his daughter anyways. She was probably a little unsure about it. He would probably be a little unsure if the situation was reversed.

She took a sip of her drink and looked to the people passing by and the cars and the city in general in thought. She wouldn't have minded to meet Caitlyn, but she figured it was best to go out on a few more dates to make sure that their relationship would last. She didn't want to get feelings for a baby that wasn't even hers if she ended up breaking up after a few dates. Jitterbug nudged his hand gently then jumped down and walked over to Maddie and stood up on her hind legs letting her front legs prop up against Maddie's legs. She looked down at the puppy and gently picked her up and kissed the top of her head before placing her in her lap. "I think, I'm full." She said gently sighing softly. She never ate that much these days and she never understood why.

"Ok," He said, "What do you wanna do next." He knew she didn't know the town but she might have an idea of what it was she wanted to do. Most towns are pretty similar, with the same basic things to do. Or at least he thought maybe they were.

She looked around in thought trying to think of something to do. She wasn't used to being able to do so much. Back in bailey the nearest Mall was about an hour away and they didn't have very many nice stores for teens. She was used to going out and making her own fun. "I honestly don't know." She said finally looking to him. "I'm so used to having to make my own fun with my friends. That's on of the many things about small town life. There's not much to do unless you make your own fun." She said gently as she pet Jitterbug gently and scratched behind one of her big floppy ears. She took a fry and fed it to Jitterbug as she scratched behind her ears.

"Well how is that done," He asked. He had always had something to do growing up. He hadn't remembered trying to make his own fun since he was very little. "Maybe you can give me a taste of small town livin."

She giggled gently. "Making your own fun is often troublesome behavior." She said sweetly looking at him. "I'd have to be in a small town to do that though." She said teasingly chuckling gently.
"A lot of times when me and my friends made our own fun it envolved alcohol too." She said gently looking to Jitterbug hoping he wouldn't have mind her making that statement. "Like one time, me and my two best friends decided after having some tequila we would get a pair of giant neon colored sunglasses, an indian head dress, and a bottle of Jim Bean bourbon and put all of those on a memorial statue of a sodier in the civil war." She said giggling gently. "A few weeks later it popped up on the local news station with the head dress, sunglasses, and the Jim Bean tapped to it's hand. They take pictures of things like that in the county and show it on the morning news." She said sweetly looking up at him. Those were good memories of her excersions with Angie and Tori. She missed her friends a lot and she knew that talking on the phone on three way every few days wasn't enough, but it made do for now.

Mathis smiled at this. "Then I suggest that we get some tequila, and I am not sure where to get a head dress. How about a baseball cap will that work?" He asked with a grin from ear to ear. "Plus I am not a huge fan of Tequila how about fruit punch?" Mathis laughed at this and reached slightly across the table and touched the top of her hand.

She laughed at him sweetly and looked away. "The only problem I could forsee is the law enforcement... See we didn't have a high number of police men in town so it was easier to do stuff like that." She said sweetly looking up at him. She looked down at his hand then up at him. She moved it a little closer to his side and turned it over.

"So how about we get out of here and maybe do a little window shopping or something." That was one of his favorite things to do. Now a days he spent most of his money on his daughter so the most he did for himself was window shop. He didn't mind though, he loved buying things for other people more then he did himself anyways.

She smiled gently and nodded sweetly. Jitterbug looked up at them and yipped softly as if answering. "Sounds like it's a good idea to both of us." She said sweetly looking at him. Her violet eyes gave off a soft gentleness as she looked at him.

After Mathis paid, he grabbed Maddie's hand as she got up. "Right this way." He said as he lead the way, still holding her hand. He wasn't sure if she minded or not but he figured if she didn't want to hold his hand she would let go.

She got up and untied Jitterbug's leash. She walked with him smiling gently at him. She didn't just let him hold her hand. She laced her fingers with his to show she didn't mind it. She looked down at Jitterbug who was walking infront of them at a steady pace.

Mathis smiled a little more when she wrapped her fingers with his. He never really expected to be interested in anyone. He had kind of given up on girls since what happened with the last one. He was glad though, he hadn't smiled like this in a long time. She seemed to be something that he truly needed. As they were walking they came to a pet store. "I think I am going to get her a puppy," Mathis said looking in the window. "You wanna help me pick one out?"
