She looked up at him and grabbed his wrist quickly almost falling off the ledge but she caught her balance. "No wait, I thought, I could come up here to be alone, but now I realize I've been alone long enough." She said gently letting go of his wrist gently. " You said Caitlyn's sick and can't sleep right?" She asked gently.

"Yeah, she has a cold and I think she has an ear ache." He said with a sad look on his face. His heart broke for his little girl. He wished that he could be sick and not her. She is just so small and helpless. "The doctor has me giving her this medication, but it doens't seem to be working." He wondered how she was doing. He had called home earlier and his mom said she was laying on his bed watching cartoons, and that she had been quiet for a while. That was good at least she was calm. She was probably worm out from crying last night.

She nodded gently in thought. Her mother had done numerous things to help when she had been sick when she was little. She looked up at him. "For the ear ache, give her a dimatap. It always worked for me, but for the night time problem, you could give her like half of a children's benydril. That will not only get her to sleep, but it should help her out with breathing problems while she sleeps." She said gently as she hoisted herself back onto the ledge.

"I just might try that." He said wondering if it would work. He would have to go get some of this stuff at the store on the way home. Which for the record was way to far away. He just wanted to get home to his little girl but he couldn't leave school right away. He had to at least try and graduate.

She nodded gently. "It always helped me when I was sick." She said gently as she looked towards the Brooklyn area. She looked back to him. "So you live around here or did you come up here from somewhere else?" She asked sweetly with a small questioning to her expression.

"I've lived here for a while." He said quietly. After Vanessa, the mother of his daughter packed up and left they moved into the City. That way they could be closer to schools and to his parents jobs. Just in case someone needed to be home with Caity. "I lived just outside of the city before and when Caity was 7 months we moved into the city."

She nodded gently then looked around at the sceanery infront of her. "What's it like to live in a big city like this?" She asked gently. She hated it so far. She was still trying to get used to it, but it was hard after living all her life in a small Mississippi town where everyone knew everyone else and when someone got into trouble it would be in the next day's newspaper. "I'm afraid I'm just a small town girl. I'm not exactly to a big city like this." She said gently looking back at him.

"It has its ups and downs," He said. "But doesn't every place. I mean sure its a little more crowded in the city and there are a lot more strangers. Only cause people don't really care about other people here much." He didn't even know 20% of the people that lived around here. "What was it like in the City."

She nodded and listened with interest. She looked to the city in thought then back at him. "Where I came from everybody knew everybody and they knew who was causing trouble and if you did cause trouble you were in the newspaper the next morning." She said gently thinking about Bailey, Mississippi. All her friends were there and she hated it. She hated being a complete stranger to a big city and a new school like this.

"I don't think I would be able to handle that." He said. Only because he had done his fair share of troublemaking and he was a teenage dad, which already in a town full of people he didn't know got him talked about. "I wouldn't be able to take people all up in my business. That would probably just cause more problems." He didn't like problems and the problems he had he wanted to be his own not everyone else's. He sort of liked not knowing all the people in his town. It made for a million chances to meet someone new. Like today he had met Maddie. If they were in a small town he would never of had this pleasure for he would have already known all about her.

She looked at him then back to the city in the distance. She smirked gently. "You grow accustomed to it when you're raised around it. I normally kept my private buisness secreat for those very reasons." She said gently smiling as she thought about Bailey. "Most big city folks say that when they hear the way small towns are, but really, it's not so bad. For the most part anyways." She said sweetly looking back at him with a soft smile.

"Well I guess I will never know the true feeling of a small town." He said. He had a feeling he was going to be stuck in this town forever. Not that he wants to just that its usually what happens. He is going to get the first job he is good at that makes enough money to live and raise his daughter and that will be it. Or at least that is the prediction.

She looked at him and smiled gently. "You don't know that for sure. My mama was a small town girl. Born and raised in the same town I was raised in and she met my dad who thought he woudn't last a week much less seventeen years in one." She said gently. It was true her dad had come from New York City and ran into her mother as he was passing through with a few people on buisness.

"Well I guess we will see." He said smiling at her. He still felt that he was going to be stuck here forever but he didn't know for sure that it was always going to be that way. He just had a tendancy to think the worst about his life.

She smiled gently looking at him. "You know, you don't seem very optimistic about that." She said teasingly. "You should look at the brighter side of things since you do after all have a kid to take care of." She said sweetly smiling at him.
