Sighing softly Ruby Haart wandered through the lonely corridors of Silkwood high. It seemed with all the recent goings on, the mysterious death of Carly, everyone was acting shifty. And Ruby hated it. She was used to awkward silences, and shifty sideway glances at her home, not here. Usually at her school everything was okay. Running her hand back through her dark hair she appeared at the music block. Her favourite place on campus...
Pushing the door of an empty classroom open she carried her midnight-blue, electric guitarin through the heavy door, her tiny, frail frame barly able to open it. Grinning once inside she plugged in her guitar to the large amp that sat waiting patiently for use in the corner, and began to strum. After a moment or two she let her fingers take her away, into a land where music was all that surrounded her.
No pain, no worry, just her and the guitar. Her pink lips parted and the sweet sound of her singing escaped. The lyrics to the song slow and melodic, her singing perfectly in tune, and time. Thinking she had locked the door behind her she continued to play, not expecting any interruptions.

Jake had been wandering through the halls, a scowl on his face. The boy hadn't been in the greatest mood. The school seemed very dark lately. Something was up. His teachers had become a little more secretive. And a bit...odd. Whenever someone metioned Carly, the teachers would get seriously silent. He was very suspicious about it. Then again, Jake was a bit of a paranoid person. So, most people just brushed off his thoughts. Jake flipped his black hair as he turned the corner.
Jake stopped walking, hearing music coming from the auditorium. He smiled a bit and headed towards the auditorium, very interested. He poked his head in the door, seeing Ruby. He listened silently for the time being.

The whole Carly incident sent a shiver down Ruby's spine. No-one was intierly sure what had happened. Death, murder...? Who could be sure? Stopping the melodic ringing of the guitar strings she sat and stared into space for a while, gathering her thoughts together... until she felt her cell phone vibrate in the pocket of her black skinny jeans. Slipping her bony hand in-between the fold of fabric she saw her mothers name flash upon the screen of her phone.
Sighing heavily she held the phone to her ear... "Hello..." She said, her voice almost filled with sadness as she began to listen to her mother go on and on at her from the other end of the phone... You're not well Ruby... You need to come home... blah blah blah... Ruby began to nibble at her finger nail, not really listening to her mother. She'd heard it al before. She knew what was coming...
At the start of the year Ruby Haart had been diagnosed with Mild Anorexia... At first no-one was worried, this had all happened before right? Normal teenage diet... It would blow over. But Ruby's eating disorder gradually got worse and worse. She wore baggy clothes to cover her bony shape. Her pretty face was white, and gaunt. Sighing she pulled the phone from her ear, and cut her mother off. She was tired of having the same argument over and over again.
Setting the guitar down beside her she lay back on the stage, a tear running down her pale cheeks, carrying her eye-liner with it. Staining her cheek on it's journey... Breathing hevily Ruby closed her eyes, un-aware of Jake's presence...
