Mathis walked slowly down the hall. He had been thinking about Maddie. It was nice having someone to talk to yesterday. Although he wasn't for sure if she felt the same way about him talking to her. She had said if he wanted to talk again, that he could find her more or likely in the art room. So that is where he was going to look for her first.
Mathis entered the art room. She was sitting at one of the tables at the back. "Hey you," He said as he entered. He then proceeded to talk over and sit down next to her. "How are you?"

Maddie was in the art room relaxing. She had to get away to a place where she knew Chad would definately not be. She was upset about it, but she didn't let it show to everyone. Who was she fooling? She shouldn't have accepted the date he offered in the first place. She should have known she would never fit into his rich little world or his snobbish clique.
She had her legs propped up on the table while she had a sketch book in her hands. The way she was facing was towards the window where she normally sat on the counter to sketch or stand infront of to paint. She had finished the painting of her parents dancing infront of the fireplace and Christmas tree and was letting it dry while she worked on a sketch of butterflies fluttering around a bush of roses. It was off to the side so she could look up and out the window when she wanted, but it was still in plain veiw. She had one of her headphones in her ear so she could hum along with music too.
She heard the familiar voice of Mathis and looked up and over her shoulder. "Oh, hey." She said gently pulling her legs off the table and setting the sketchbook down and her canvas sack that was neatly organized with sketching charcols from including every color of the rainbow. "Things could be better." She said softly as she stood up and looked to him as she sat down on the table. "What about you? Is Caitlyn feeling any better?" She asked sweetly watching him. She was happy he had found her because she needed to talk as much as he probably wanted to.

"I am good," He said, with a tone in his voice that says only good, not great. He still wasn't getting any sleep although Caitlyn was getting better. It was strange, she slept all through the night yet all he could seem to do was watch her. What if he went to sleep and she started coughing and he didn't hear it. He wondered when he would be able to get any real sleep.
"She is getting better, but she is still sick." He answered. He smiled at the fact though that she even brought up his daughter. Most people didn't try to bring up his daughter but tried to avoid the subject completely that he even had one. "How are you?" He asked.

She nodded gently. She could tell he wasn't getting anysleep. She figured he was too worried about leaving her alone for him to sleep. "If you're that worried about leaving her alone, you should invest in a baby monitor to set up. That way you could get some sleep and if she wakes up and starts a coughing fit you'll know." She said gently as she got off the table. She had learned enough from her parents and her babysitting experiences to give a little help with that kind of thing.
She walked over tot he painting and picked up a thin brush and put it in a small glod of paint. She looked to him and frowned. "Like I said, things could be better." She said gently as she crouched some and carefully painted her signature across the bottom left corner of her painting. "Boyfriend problems really, but it's more of ex problems now. I really set myself up for what's happened though so I'm not going to complain about it." She said gently as she set the paintbrush in a plastic cup full of mirky paintfilled water with a few others she had left soaking in it. "I knew better than to try and date a 'popular', but I did it anyways." She said gently as she sat down on the counter infront of the window.

"So that puts you on the market for dating huh?" He asked with a sligh smile. He was only joking with her. He wouldn't hit on her, at least not so soon as to when she just got out a of relationship. "And on the baby monitor note. I have one but I still worry about not hearing it or something."

She giggled sweetly looking at him. She saw the sly smile and smirked. "Yes, it does." She said sweetly. She knew he was only joking, but she wouldn't have minded if a guy asked her out so soon after one. "If I ever do get another boyfriend, I aint making the same mistak again." She said gently looking to him.
She looked out the window in thought then back to him. "Well, that means two things then. One, you're a good father, and two, you worry too much." She said sweetly.

"Well its better to worry to much then to not worry at all." He said looking around the room. He loved the talent in other people. He worked better when it had to do with photo, whether it be making it look really cool or just really beautiful. He reached into his backpack and pulled out his camera. She was still looking out the window. Nothing more beautiful in that moment. He pulled the camera up to his face and took a multiple amount of photos.

"True." She said gently as she looked out the window in thought. She pulled her legs up onto the counter and turned sideways. She pulled her legs up some and then turned to look at him once she realized he was taking pictures. She wrapped her arms around her legs and then laid her head gently on her knee smiling softly. "You may want to take a few more because I'm not exactly 'Miss Photogenic.'" She said teasingly as a few hairs fell into her face.

"I don't think I have seen anyone in my life be more photogenic then you." He smiled. Standing up so he could get pictures from different angle. "My camera is lucky." He laughed. More like he was lucky but he sounded less like he was hitting on him when he referred to himself as his camera.

She giggled and rolled her eyes. "You're just saying that so I'll let you take more pictures of me." She said teasingly. She watched him smiling gently as her violet eyes sparkled with a happiness that hadn't been seen by even her aunt in the past few weeks since she got here. She looked away embarrased with the sudden attention she was getting.

"Is that such a bad thing." He said. "I mean if I can tell you the truth and get more photos out of the situation. It really is a win, win." He moved around a little bit more and then stopped. He found a spot where the sun hit her perfectly. It made her seem like a shy angel who was trying to hard to hide her wings. "Absolutely beautiful," He whispered.

She blushed softly and smiled. "Maybe for you, but I don't exactly like taking pictures." She said gently looking down at her hands in thought then back to him. She sighed softly and looked out the window. Her attention fell back to him though when she heard him whisper something. Her violet eyes fell on him with a curiosity to them. "Did you say something?" She asked gently.

Mathis wasn't one for keeping secrets so he was more then glad to tell her what he had said. "I said you are absolutely beautiful." He let the hand with his camera in it go down to his side. He believed that honesty was the best policy, but maybe hitting on her wasn't a good idea. What if he was creeping her out? He didn't want to lose a friend over an attraction.

She looked at him and tilted her head gently thinking. Well, he definately was honest, and she thought that was a good quality for a guy or girl even to have. She blushed softly and looked away. He wasn't scaring her at all. She liked it a lot that he had been trutheful. "I honestly don't know what to say." She said gently looking at him noticing that his hand with the camera in it fell to his side.

"You could say that you will go out with me on Friday night." He smiled and pulled himself up onto the table across from her. "That is however just a suggestion." He needed to get out, do something fun for a change and why not with her. She was beautiful and she seemed like she would be the perfect person to spend an evening with.
